Bio

The Singularity is the solo work of musician/producer Steven James Kirby.

The sounds are a sonic representation of collaboration between man and machine.

Kirby’s early work was based solely on rock and punk music untill he began experimentng with computer based music in 2005. This led to a natural progression of using hardware synthesisers and eventually the incorporation of all his musical disciplines within the digital realm.

The result is something fresh and unclassified. Inspired by a broad variety of artists and styles spanning decades. From King Crimson to Venetian Snares this guy likes it all, and it shows in the music.

The Singularity is a the theoretical point at which technology is able to augment itself recursively, due to it’s own intellect surpassing that of humankind’s. The resultant exponential intelligence explosion and technological self awareness will leave us at the whim of the machines we created to serve us.

This music was created, not by controlling the machines that produced the sounds, but by a collaboration between man and machine. The input supplied by the human element is influenced by the feedback from the machine and it’s almost infinte potential for timbral and rhythmic output.
